P&WC and AIROD Ink MOU for Performance Based Maintenance Support


LIMA, March 27 2019 - Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) and AIROD Sdn. Bhd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to provide performance-based support and maintenance of the PT6A-25C turboprop engines, which power the pilatus PC- 7 Mk.II militery trainer aircraft fleet operated by the Royal Malaysian Airforce (RMAF).  P&WC is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

When commenting the collaboration, Dato Sri Mohamad Elkany Ahmad, Managing Director of AIROD denotes, “AIROD takes great pride in collaborating directly with a leading OEM like P&WC.  Over the years of dynamic and fruitful cooperation , AIROD and P&WC have demonstrated and implemented their shared capabilities in providing a dependable propulsion solution with a responsive team.

We look foward to further enhancing and working closely with P&WC in the support of the Pilatus PC-7 Mk II aircraft and it planned performance-based approach would witness AIROD and P&WC offering a comprehensive maintenance and support solution tailored to accommodate operational requirements of the RMAF”.

P&WC, a name synonymous with turbine engine manufacturing for almost a century, through a collaborative partneship with AIROD will greatly create a recognizable product with high standards and quality”.

“A performance based approach will alow users such RMAF to fokus on their training missions, and the collaboration with AIROD would enhance P&WC’s footprint in Mlalaysia and regionally,” said Benjamin Murat-Prats, Senior Manager of Business Development and Strategic Marketing, P&WC.  “At  Pratt & Whitney, we put our customers at the heart of everything we do, customising service offerings to help engine operators maximize fleet availability and minimize cost over the life cycle of their engines.”

Under the MOU, AIROD and P&WC could be expected to provide a tailored and comprehensive program including pay-per-hour Maintenence, Repaired and Overhaul (MRO), as well as Intergrated Logistics Support (ILS) with project management and technical and engineering support in order to ensure and accomodate the operational availability and capability of the PT6A-25C engine fleet for the RMAF.

Over last decade, P&WC has been a leading suplier to Malaysia, powering in excess of 50 aircraft that are currently operated by various Malaysian Government agencies such as the Royal Malaysian Police, RMAF, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department.
