Strand Aerospace Malaysia signs an MOU with a UK High Tech Company at LIMA’2019

Following the support and advice of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad for development of future Aircraft in Malaysia, Samad Aerospace, a UK high-tech company is signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with one of the top aerospace  engineering companies of Malaysia, Strand Aerospace, for joint development of this promising VTOL electric/hybrid business jet on 29th of March at the stand of Samad Aerospace at LIMA Air Show hall A-135 UK pavilion.

This marks a stepping stone for the Malaysia Aerospace industry to be a leading country in the forthcoming 3rd aviation revolution. The MOU signing took place at the UK Pavilion, Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) on Friday 29th March 2019 between the CEO of Samad Aerospace, Seyed Mohseni and the Business Development Manager of Strand Aerospace Sdn. Bhd, Afif bin Badrulhisham, and witnessed by the Minister of Enterpreneur Development, Datuk Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof.

SAMAD Aerospace is developing a range of completely new and innovative, vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) electric powered passenger aircraft, the E-Starling.  

The disruptive technology start-up in the UK aerospace industry is pioneering the design, development and build of the world’s fastest vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) electric and hybrid-electric aircraft at 1500 miles range and up to 460 miles per hour speed that significantly reduces travel time (~50%) for air ambulance applications, intercity air transporters and international air travel to improve connectivity and civilian air transportation worldwide.

Based in Cranfield Technology Park, UK, the company’s aircraft will enable true point-to-point air travel over long distances. The E-Starling aircraft will have unique advantages over existing business jets which still require time-consuming trips to and from a limited number of airports, and over helicopters which fly at much slower speeds and over significantly shorter distances.

The world had seen two aviation revolutions since the invention of Wright brothers.  The conversion of wooden biplanes to fast metal monoplanes followed by the integration of jet engines have enabled massive progression in world aerospace industry. Today, aircraft electrification, VTOL (therefore, no need of busy airports), autonomy and exploitation of artificial intelligence (AI) are critical enabling technologies to unlock the upcoming wave of 3rd aviation revolution.  Globally, world-leading aircraft manufacturers are working towards realizing this future, with significant investments are made today in the US and China to accelerate development and production of innovative more-electric next-generation aircraft.

SAMAD Aerospace has been developing both of its manned and unmanned aircraft during the last two years via investments from executive team and business angels.  The conceptual designs are finished in 2018, with two scaled prototypes have been built and flown; and showcased in reputable international airshows in Singapore, Geneva and Farnborough this year.  The development and build of the first full scale prototype of this aircraft under certification needs approximately £80 million of investment. Given the potential of being a UK flagship project, Samad Aerospace has recently been shortlisted among top six companies out of 252 firms applied to United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) to receive approximately £40 million of grant in the next five years.

MOU LIMA19 Meraih Lebih 4 bilion

Langkawi, Kedah, 28 Mac 2019-Majlis menandatangani Memorandum Persefahaman (MOU) /Kontrak telah diadakan pada 28 Mac 2019, di Pre-Function Room, Pusat Pameran Antarabangsa Mahsuri (MIEC), Langkawi, Kedah. Majlis ini berlangsung sempena Pameran Maritim dan Aeroangkasa Antarabangsa Langkawi 2019 (LIMA ’19).

Sejumlah tujuh (7) kontrak Perolehan dan Program Kolaborasi Industri (ICP) di antara Kementerian Pertahanan dan pelbagai syarikat telah ditandatangani di majlis ini, dan disaksikan oleh YB Tuan Haji Mohamad Bin Sabu, Menteri Pertahanan.

Manakala, pertukaran enam (6) MOU telah dimeterai, di mana empat (4) telah disaksikan YB Tuan Loke Siew Fook, Menteri Pengangkutan dan dua (2) disaksikan oleh YB Menteri Pertahanan. Selain daripada itu, majlis ini turut menyaksikan penyerahan lapan (8) Surat Niat (LOI) dan sepuluh (10) Surat Setuju Terima (LOA) bagi pelbagai kontrak Perolehan Kementerian Pertahanan, yang telah disempurnakan oleh YBhg. Dato’ Halimi bin Abd Manaf, Ketua Setiausaha Kementerian.

Jumlah keseluruhan nilai Perolehan yang dimeterai di majlis ini adalah RM3.67 bilion. Sebahagian besar perolehan ini adalah bagi tujuan penyenggaraan aset-aset pertahanan sedia ada, bagi memastikan keselamatan dan tahap kesiagaan pertahanan negara sentiasa berada pada tahap yang optimum. Pada masa yang sama, Kerajaan akan terus mempertimbangkan perolehanaset-aset strategik baharu, dengan mengambil kira perkembangan teknologi semasa serta perkembangan ancaman keselamatan bukan tradisional.

Selain dari pada kontrak-kontrak yang dimeterai di majlis ini, Kementerian juga dimaklumkan bahawa terdapat perjanjian / MOU yang telah dimeterai di antara syarikat-syarikat sepanjang LIMA ’19 berlangsung, yang dianggarkan bernilai melebihi RM500 juta. Ini menjadikan nilai keseluruhan kontrak bagi LIMA ’19 melebihi RM4.0 bilion.

RMN and Airbus Helicopters celebrate excellence in flight achievement

Langkawi, 28 March 2019 – Airbus Helicopters and the Royal Malaysian Navy held a ceremony

at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) to celebrate the Navy’s

excellent flight operations record, as well as its achievement of 19,000 flight hours with the AS555

SN Fennec fleet.

The event was attended by Lakshamana Madya Datuk Khairul Anuar Yahaya, Deputy Chief of Navy of the Royal Malaysian Navy and Lakshamana Pertama Sazalee Shoib, Naval Air Commander. Fabrice Rochereau, Head of Sales, Airbus Helicopters South East Asia & Pacific and Raymond Lim, Head of Country, Airbus Malaysia presented the Deputy Chief of Navy with the award to commemorate its achievement of 19,000 flight hours with the AS555 SN Fennec fleet..

At the same time, Lieutenant Commander Muliadi Mohammad Nor received the certificates of

achievement for 1,000 and 500 flight hours respectively on the AS555 SN on behalf of the pilots.

The Royal Malaysian Navy’s fleet of six AS555 SN Fennec helicopters have been in service since

2004. The light twin, multi-role AS555 SN fleet is used for training missions, and for the detection

and over-the-horizon targeting. Together, they have achieved over 19,000 flight hours.

TUDM menerajui pelbagai misi menggunakan Airbus A400M

Langkawi, 28 Mac 2019 – Pengunaan empat buah pesawat pengangkut udara taktikal Airbus A400M milik Angkatan Tentera Udara DiRaja Malaysia (TUDM) telah membolehkan Malaysia menjadi peneraju rantau dalam pelbagai operasi bantuan kemanusiaan dan bencana (HADR) bagi rantau Asia-Pasifik.

TUDM telah menerima pesawat A400M yang keempat mereka pada tahun 2017, menjadikan mereka sebagai pengendali global pertama yang berdiri gagah dengan memiliki skuadron lengkap.

Sehingga kini, pesawat pengangkut tersebut terlibat dalam enam operasi HADR bagi menyampaikan bahan bantuan kemanusian kepada mereka yang amat memerlukan.  A400M juga turut mengambil bahagian dalam sesi latihan pelbagai hala, dan menyertai misi pengisian bahan api di udara untuk mempertingkatkan lagi kemampuan operasi TUDM.

Prestasi yang cemerlang serta tahap pengunaan yang tinggi telah membolehkan Airbus memberi pengiktirafan kepada skuadron ke-22 TUDM di LIMA 2019 di atas kejayaan mereka merakam jam penerbangan yang paling tinggi di kalangan semua pengendali A400M di seluruh dunia.

Sebuah plak untuk memperingati kejayaan cemerlang ini telah disampaikan kepada Yg Bhg General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Hj Affendi Buang, Ketua Tentera Udara DiRaja Malaysia, oleh Jean-Marc Nasr, Presiden Airbus Asia-Pasifik, di pertunjukan udara tersebut.

Berucap kepada pemberita semasa sesi taklimat media di LIMA 2019, Lt Col Yusrizal Zain, pegawai komandan skuadron ke-22, berkata: “Pemilikan A400M telah membolehkan Malaysia menyokong pelbagai operasi HADR dengan lebih efektif berbanding sebelumnya.  Ini disebabkan kerana kini kami memiliki keupayaan untuk terbang lebih jauh dan lebih pantas dengan membawa berat bebanan yang lebih tinggi berbanding pesawat lain. Beroperasi di landasan yang rosak, lebih pendek mahupun tidak diturap bukan lagi merupakan satu halangan kerana reka bentuk dan kemampuan A400M yang unik mampu menangani semua cabaran ini.”

Sehingga kini, TUDM A400M telah melaksanakan operasi HADR di Marawi, Filipina (Julai 2017), Chittagong, Bangladesh (Ogos 2017, Januari 2018 dan Julai 2018), Vientiane, Laos (July 2018), dan Palu, Indonesia (Oktober 2018).

Misi tersebut turut merangkumi aktiviti penyampaian bahan bantuan kemanusiaan seperti makanan, pakaian, ubat-ubatan dan air sehingga kepada membawa kargo bersaiz besar seperti jentera pengaut tepat ke pusat penerimaan di mana ia diperlukan. A400M terbukti cemerlang di Palu, di mana ia mampu mendarat walaupun dengan bebanan yang penuh di landasan yang mengalami permasalahan teruk untuk beroperasi kerana keretakan yang dialami akibat gempa bumi.

Selain dari misi HADR, A400M milik TUDM turut melaksanakan aktiviti pengisian bahan api di udara dengan pelbagai pesawat seperti F/A-18s, Su-30s dan Hawks.  Mereka juga turut menyertai latihan pelbagai hala seperti Pitch Black di Australia (Julai-Ogos 2018) dan BERSAMA LIMA di Singapura (Oktober 2018).

“Walaupun A400M secara idealnya lebih sesuai digunakan untuk menyokong misi kemanusiaan di rantau Asia-Pasifik, namun ciri pesawat yang serba boleh, bermakna kami juga berupaya melaksanakan misi pengisian bahan api di udara untuk memantap serta mempertingkatkan lagi keupayaan operasi TUDM. Pesawat ini juga merupakan duta terbaik Malaysia semasa pelaksanaan misi pelbagai hala, dan mempamerkan kemampuan kendiri kami berbanding tentera udara lain dari seluruh dunia,” ujar Lt Col Yusrizal.

The Royal Malaysian Air Force is the world’s highest Airbus’ H225M military flyer in 2018

Langkawi, 28 March 2019 – Airbus Helicopters held a ceremony at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) to celebrate the achievement of the Royal Malaysian Air 

Force for being the H225M military operator who logged the most number of flight hours worldwide in 2018. 

 
The event was attended by General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Affendi Bin Buang TUDM, Chief of Air Force. Fabrice Rochereau, Head of Sales, Airbus Helicopters South East Asia & Pacific and Raymond Lim, Head of Country, Airbus Malaysia presented the Air Force Chief with the award to commemorate
this milestone. 

 
The Royal Malaysian Air Force’s H225M pilots who have achieved 1,500, 1,000 and 500 flight hours respectively on the H225M helicopter were also presented with flight hours achievement awards at this memorable event. 

The Royal Malaysian Air Force’s fleet of 12 H225M helicopters has been in service since 2012. Designed for the most demanding missions, these H225Ms have participated in various exercises and humanitarian missions, including flood rescue and lifesaving operations. Together, they have achieved 16,000 flight hours.

Russian Helicopters Holding Company negotiating delivery of up to eight helicopters to Malaysia

Russian Helicopters Holding Company (part of Rostec State Corporation) is holding negotiations regarding delivery of up to eight rotorcraft units of three types to Malaysian customers. Contract details are to be specified during the fifteenth Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2019 through March 26 to 30 on Langkawi island.

“Malaysianoperatorsmaderequestsforpurchasing up toeightAnsat, Mi-8/17 and Ka-32A11BC helicopters. 

We are currently providing consultations to customers to clarify technical configurations of the helicopters planned for delivery as well as other organizational matters”, said Igor Chechikov, Deputy General Director for after-sales support and head of the delegation of Russian Helicopters Holding Company.

The inquiries of Malaysian partners were partly a result of the South Asian Heli Tour organized by JSC “Russian Helicopters”. InNovemberandDecember 2018 two new helicopters, one Mi-171А2 and one Ansat, made a tour over 5 thousand kilometers in length, holding demonstration shows inChina, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia.

“Southeast Asia is one of strategically important regions for us. We see numerous opportunities for increasing the export volume of civil rotorcraft”. 

After the recent South Asian Heli Tour we have concluded firm and soft contracts for the delivery of 70 civil helicopters. At present we are negotiating terms and delivery dates with the potential customers”, highlighted Viktor Kladov, Director for international cooperation and regional policy at Rostec State Corporation.

Ansat is a light twin-engine utility helicopter serially produced at Kazan Helicopters. As per the type certificate, the helicopter design makes it possible to carry out quick conversion from cargo to passenger version capable to transport up to seven people. 

Ansat is certified for EMS version and for operation in ambient air temperatures from minus 45°С to plus 50°С. In addition, Ansat successfully completed a series of tests confirming its capability to operate in high-altitude conditions up to 3,500 m.

Мi-8/17 typehelicoptersandtheirvarious versionsare among the most well-known and commercially popular rotorcraft in the world. Thenewestmodificationsarecertifiedforoperationinhigh-altitude conditions, adversary climates and a broad temperature range. 

Mi-17 helicopters are designed for a wide range of missions from patrolling, coastal guard services and EMS to search and rescue operations.

AIRBUS C295 MPA AND MARITIME SURVEILLANCE SOLUTIONS IDEAL FOR MALAYSIA

Langkawi, 27 March 2018 – The Airbus C295 maritime patrol aircraft (MPA), as well as the 

company’s coastal and land surveillance solutions, offer the best options for Malaysia’s

requirements, said Johan Pelissier, Head of Airbus Defence and Space, South East Asia.

Speaking to reporters today at a media briefing during LIMA 2019, Mr Pelissier said that Airbus will respond to a maritime patrol aircraft request for information (RFI) issued by Malaysia.

“Recent comments by senior officials indicate that maritime patrol aircraft are now a priority due to Malaysia’s strategic environment as a maritime nation, and a need to beef up the country’s surveillance and security capability and have better situation awareness,” he added.

“The C295 MPA represents the best combination of value and capability for Malaysia. It offers the lowest risks, given that it is not a concept aircraft that is unproven in service. It also has the best acquisition, operating and life-cycle costs in its category.”

The aircraft features a modern mission system and comprehensive sensor suites, which the company developed in-house. This presents lower risks compared to aircraft that incorporate crucial third-party systems. Maintenance costs are three times lower than other comparable platforms, and it is also six times more fuel efficient than jet aircraft.

The C295 MPA is also in service on maritime patrol and surveillance mission with operators in 

Brazil, Chile, Oman, and Portugal. Canada has also ordered the platform. This makes it the only maritime patrol aircraft in its category that is in service today.

For broader coastal surveillance requirements, Airbus could tailor a comprehensive solution that combines products and services across the company’s cutting-edge portfolio.

“Such a comprehensive solution would meet the needs of multiple national agencies. It could

include manned and unmanned aircraft, helicopters, satellite imagery, intelligence systems,

and data analytics. It could also be designed and implemented in-country,” said Mr Pelissier.

In the Space segment, Airbus offers everything from the smallest electronic parts to very 

high-resolution Earth observation instruments and today’s most reliable communication satellites.

Malaysia is an existing customer with MEASAT-3b, the largest satellite ordered by the country’s 

communications sector, which Airbus manufactured and launched in 2014. The company has also partnered the Malaysian Remote Sensing Agency (ARSM), which is equipped with a direct 

receiving station and receives imagery from the Airbus constellation of Earth observation satellites.

“Our Earth observation satellites provide imagery that support national security, disaster 

preparedness and management, and climate change. Our satellites also meet a wide range of civil and military secure communications requirements. In short, Airbus delivers the best value in Space,” said Mr Pelissier.

Airbus is the largest international exhibitor at LIMA 2019, reflecting both its long-standing 

relationships with Malaysian customers and the enduring partnerships that the company has

with the country’s aerospace industry.

The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) is the first export customer for the Airbus A400M 

tactical airlifter, and a highly successful operator of this new-generation transport platform. 

The aircraft have proven especially valuable in the numerous humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operations that the RMAF has undertaken around the region.

“The A400M one of the most visible symbols of Airbus’ successful relationship with Malaysia,” 

said Mr Pelissier. “The humanitarian missions have allowed Malaysia to help its neighbours at 

their time of great need. Airbus is proud to have partnered the RMAF in many of them.”

Malacca-based CTRM manufactures various parts of the A400M, while local maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) firm Sepang Aircraft Engineering provides

 material and technical support for the airlifters. Airbus is also building up the RMAF’s expertise on the A400M, and gradually transferring support activity to a local workforce.

P&WC and AIROD Ink MOU for Performance Based Maintenance Support

LIMA, March 27 2019 - Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) and AIROD Sdn. Bhd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to provide performance-based support and maintenance of the PT6A-25C turboprop engines, which power the pilatus PC- 7 Mk.II militery trainer aircraft fleet operated by the Royal Malaysian Airforce (RMAF).  P&WC is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

When commenting the collaboration, Dato Sri Mohamad Elkany Ahmad, Managing Director of AIROD denotes, “AIROD takes great pride in collaborating directly with a leading OEM like P&WC.  Over the years of dynamic and fruitful cooperation , AIROD and P&WC have demonstrated and implemented their shared capabilities in providing a dependable propulsion solution with a responsive team.

Under the MOU, AIROD and P&WC could be expected to provide a tailored and comprehensive program including pay-per-hour Maintenence, Repaired and Overhaul (MRO), as well as Intergrated Logistics Support (ILS) with project management and technical and engineering support in order to ensure and accomodate the operational availability and capability of the PT6A-25C engine fleet for the RMAF.

Over last decade, P&WC has been a leading suplier to Malaysia, powering in excess of 50 aircraft that are currently operated by various Malaysian Government agencies such as the Royal Malaysian Police, RMAF, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department.

Piaggio Aerospace Signs Contracts for 45 Million Euro

The Italian Aerospace company has renewed a first tranche of maintenance agreements for both aircraft and engines belonging to the main national institutions. Logistic support contracts have been awarded for the P.180 fleets of the Italian Air Force, Interior Ministry, Italian Army and Coast Guard, in addition to the maintenance of the Viper engines installed on the aircraft of the Italian Acrobatic Air Patrol Team.

Villanova d’Albenga, 26 March 2019 - Piaggio Aerospace, one of the leading players in the business aviation and security & defence sectors, has announced the signing of maintenance agreements valued at approximately 45 Million Euro. The deals have been signed with the main Italian national institutions and cover activities lasting from 12 to 36 months.

The most significant agreement, which is worth 39.3 Million Euro in the next 12 months, was signed by the Italian Air Force to support and maintain the operability of the Aermacchi MB.339 aircraft, used by the National Acrobatic Air Patrol Team “Frecce Tricolori” and the flight school of the 61° Stormo in Galatina (Southern Italy). The contract includes both the maintenance of the Viper engines installed on the above-mentioned aircraft and the purchase of spare parts. The Air Force also signed an agreement for integrated logistic support for the fleet of P.180 twin-engine turboprop aircraft designed and produced by Piaggio Aerospace in its centre of excellence in Villanova d’Albenga (Italy).

The integrated logistic support for the P.180 fleet is the common element of further agreements signed with other Italian institutions. These include the Department of Public Safety (State Police) of the Interior Ministry (3-year contract), the Italian Army (12-month agreement, operational after the expiration of the current service agreement), and the National Coast Guard, directed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (2-year contract).

The Prime Minister of Malaysia acquaints himself with the state-of-the-art Russian helicopters

Langkawi / March 26, 2019

The Prime Minister of Malaysia Mahathir Mohamad visited a stand of Russian Helicopters (part of Rostec State Corporation) when he attended the LIMA-2019 exhibition. Russian Helicopters Deputy CEO for Aftersales Service Igor Chechikov who headed the holding company's delegation told him about the state-of-the-art helicopters designed in Russia.

"As part of this exhibition we present the Ansat and Mi-171A2 helicopters which were in Malaysia last year within the demonstration tour across Southeast Asia. Besides, here you can see our new civilian helicopter Mi-38, which occupies a niche between the classical Mi-8 and Mi-26 machines. We intend to develop fruitful cooperation with our partners from Malaysia and offer them both advanced machines and flexible service and aftersales service systems," said Igor Chechikov.

The head of the holding company's delegation presented Mr. Mohamad with the Mi-171A2 helicopter in the same livery as it had during the demonstration tour.

"Malaysia is one of the key Rostec's markets in Southeast Asia. Russia and Malaysia have been partners in the aerospace industry for decades. For instance, Malaysia successfully operates several Mi-17 helicopters," said Viktor Kladov, Director for International Cooperation and Regional Policy Department of the State Corporation. "We aim to expand our partnership in aviation, and we are ready to consider various cooperation options, from granting loans for supply to establishing joint service centers and technology transfer."

We would like to remind you that as part of the demonstration tour of Russian helicopters in Southeast Asia participants of Airshow China in Zhuhai (China) and potential customers from Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia acquainted themselves with the capabilities of both machines. Demonstration of full-size civilian machines in these countries allowed us to reach certain agreements and form a large portfolio of orders for the Mi-171A2 and Ansat helicopters. The helicopters flew almost 5,000 kilometers. Overall, more than a thousand representatives of state and commercial operators attended demonstration flights. The machines confirmed their performance and proved that they can be used efficiently in high temperature and almost 100% humidity.

Ansat is a light multipurpose twin-engine helicopter serial production of which is deployed at the Kazan helicopter plant. Its design allows converting it into a cargo version or into a passenger rotorcraft that can lift up to seven people. The machine is certified for use with a medical module in the temperatures ranging between -45°С and +50°С. High-altitude tests of Ansat have been successfully completed, which confirmed the possibility of its use in mountainous terrain at altitudes up to 3,500 meters.

Mi-171A2 is a medium-class multipurpose helicopter combining unique experience of operating the helicopters of Mi-8/17 type and the holding company's latest designs. The helicopter may be effectively and safely used around the clock, in highland conditions, at low and high temperatures, high humidity and overwater.

HUTD - 8 BGD DERMA DARAH

Kelantan 19 Mac  - Acara Derma Darah Peringkat 8 Bgd telah diadakan di Kem Pengkalan Chepa dan Kem Desa Pahlawan pada 19 Mac 2019.

Seramai 353 orang anggota tentera secara sukarela telah menjadi penderma darah dalam acara  ini iaitu seramai 189 anggota di Kem Desa Pahlawan dan 164 anggota di Kem Pengkalan Chepa.

Acara derma darah ini diadakan serentak di semua formasi-formasi Tentera Darat bagi meraikan Hari Ulangtahun Tentera Darat yang ke 86 yang jatuh pada 1 Mac yang lalu.  

Turut hadir, Panglima 8 Bgd, Brig Jen Muhammad Huzaimi bin Sabri, serta Pegawai Memerintah dan Pegawai Pemerintah pasukan-pasukan di dalam Kem Desa Pahlawan.

Bagi acara di Kem Pengkalan Chepa pula dihadiri oleh Lt Kol Zaabar bin Jaaffar, Ketua Staf MK 8 Bgd bersama Pegawai pegawai Kanan di Kem Pengkalan Chepa. Kesemua darah penderma ini akan disalurkan kepada Tabung Darah Hosp Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) Kelantan dan juga Hosp Raja Perempuan Zainab II (HRPZ) Kelantan.

MINDEF KUTUK INSIDEN DI CHRISTCHURCH

Kuala Lumpur 15 Mac - Kementerian Pertahanan mengutuk sekeras-kerasnya tindakan kejam terhadap serangan ke atas dua buah masjid iaitu Masjid Al Noor dan Masjid Linwood di Christchurch, New Zealand tengah hari tadi yang telah menyebabkan 40 maut dan puluhan lagi cedera termasuk dua rakyat Malaysia. 

Lebih menyedihkan insiden tembakan itu turut dirakam dan disiarkan secara
sengaja oleh penjenayah tersebut di internet.

YB Mohamad Sabu selaku Menteri Pertahanan dalam kenyataannya amat bersimpati dan berharap keluarga mangsa dan masyarakat Christchurch tabah menerima ujian dan menyeru agar masyarakat dunia bersama-sama mengutuk jenayah ini yang tidak boleh diterima sama sekali oleh akal yang waras. 

Beliau percaya, kerajaan New Zealand akan memastikan keselamatan rakyat di negara itu sentiasa terjamin dan penjenayah terlibat akan dikenakan hukuman sewajarnya.

Kementerian Pertahanan juga masih menunggu laporan penuh daripada Pejabat Penasihat Pertahanan (PPP) Malaysia di New Zealand serta sentiasa berhubung rapat dan sedia bekerjasama dengan Kementerian Luar dalam memastikan keselamatan rakyat Malaysia di sana.
