The 4th BID Brasil, promoted by the Brazilian Defense and Security Industry Association (ABIMDE), takes place between September 27 and 29 at the Convention Center Ulysses Guimarães in Brasília (DF). The official opening ceremony is scheduled to September 27 at 2:00 pm at the Planalto Auditorium in the Convention Center, and it will be attended by Brazilian minister of Defense Raul Jungmann, foreign minister Jose Serra and the minister of Justice Alexandre de Moraes.
Two months away from the event, the 4th BID Brasil has already more than 80 companies enrolled, and a 10% increase in the number of exhibitors is expected in comparison to last year’s edition.
With the support of the Ministry of Defense, Armed Forces and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Agency (Apex-Brasil), BID Brasil’s main goal is to generate new opportunities for international business, opening up markets for Brazilian companies to show the unique features of their products and services. The most important event in the Brazilian defense industry field, it is expected to receive around 3,500 visitors, including foreign military attachés, members of diplomatic corps and police forces, journalists and members of the Military Academy.
“BID Brasil is unique in the sense that it enables direct contact between Brazilian entrepreneurs and foreign military attachés, members of diplomatic corps and international Armed Forces. By doing so, we want to open new markets and allow Brazilian products and services to be known by decision-makers responsible for purchases,” explains ABIMDE president Carlos Frederico Queiroz de Aguiar.
Installed in a pavilion with 4,746 square meters reserved to exhibitor booths, meeting rooms and auditorium, BID Brasil will also provide an external area for displaying police cars and equipment, as well as an area for product demonstration where visitors will be able to observe the flight of unmanned aircrafts and the operation of vehicles. Companies such as Avibras e Agrale, for instance, will be showing police and armored vehicles. Avionics and Rockwell Collins will jointly show a flight demonstrator. Poly Defensor, on the other hand, is going to deliver practical demonstrations of non-lethal gear in an area designed like a shooting range, and Truckvan will introduce a shooting simulator.
The Brazilian Army, Navy and Air Force, as well as the Ministry of Defense, will all have booths at the event. Partner companies have already confirmed their attendance, as in the case of the Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (ABIT), the Development Pole of Santa Maria, and the General Commander National Council for the Military Police and Military Fire Brigades.
The program also includes lectures targeted at entrepreneurs and focused on business opportunities in the defense and security sectors. Lectures are held in the morning, whereas exhibition booths remain open from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm
“The national industry of defense and security is prepared to meet foreign market requirements. We have the most advanced technologies, and the companies associated with ABIMDE will present the most recent and modern production of Brazilian companies. We have high expectations to this Mostra BID Brasil edition,” Aguiar concludes.
